Curriculum vitae

Susana González Martínez is a Marie Sklodowska-Curie research fellow at the Department of Cultures. She holds an International PhD in Art and Education, a Master´s Degree in Applied Research in Feminist, Gender, and Citizenship Studies, a second one in Aesthetic Research and Education in Art, Music, and Design, and a Degree in Social Work. She is the president of the Metal Music Studies Spain Association and Associate Editor of the Metal Music Studies Journal. She hosted the VII International Society for Metal Music Studies Biennial Research Conference in Seville, Spain and four editions of the Rock and Metal Encounter Conference. She has served on the Scientific Committee of the International Colloquium of Gender Studies at the National Autonomous University of Mexico. She has been invited to speak at different Universities in Europe and Latin America, and to serve as a jury member for the Laureana Wright Prize for the best feminist research. Her research intersects sociology, cultural studies, pedagogy, and gender studies, focusing on the analysis of popular music and art with particular emphasis on inequalities, social transformation through the arts, participatory research methodologies, and the links between spirituality and creativity for social education and democratic values.
