Personal profile

Description of research and teaching

My background is in terrestrial ecology, and my view to environmental issues goes via landscape. I am studying and teaching ecosystem structure, processes and changes in relation to carbon circulation and biodiversity with field studies, and geographical information systems and remote sensing based analyses. My main focus has been in Arctic, where I have studied several regions in Finland, Russia and Canada since 1990’s. I have participated several international and national research projects.
