Personal profile

Description of research and teaching

My teaching and research interests cover topics on Asian Area Studies from interdisciplinary perspective. Especially I am interested in themes such as identities, imperialisms, nationalisms, migration, women's agency, and intercultural encounters. In the project Finnish in China I will evaluate the Finnish expatriates' presence and identity in China.  I have been also been doing research on Myanmar's Buddhist nationalism in relation to Rohinga identity. In our latest project on Asian Migration in Finland we reflect Asian migration, identities and agency in Finland. In the field on higher education pedagogy I have been doing research on online teaching and on digital pedagogy.
