My research background is in philosophy and European studies. I have published widely on topics including modern philosophy of history, European intellectual and economic history, political philosophy, liberalism, and social ontology. My work has been recognized on two occasions by the Society for Phenomenological and Existential Philosophy (SPEP), one of the leading philosophical societies in the United States. In 2008, I received the Graduate Student Award, and in 2013, the Junior Scholar Award.

In 2021, I was named European of the Year in Finland. In 2023, I received the University of Helsinki’s J. V. Snellman Prize, and in 2024, I was awarded the Academy Award of the Research Council of Finland.

I received my PhD in Philosophy from the University of Helsinki in 2013 and was appointed Docent in the Faculty of Social Sciences in 2019. My research interests include the development of European liberalism, the relationship between history and philosophy, and the intersections of politics, economics, and law.
