Personal profile

Description of research and teaching

I investigate how organisms respond to human induced rapid environmental changes. The work focusses on behavioural responses and their impact on ecological and evolutionary processes. With the work I strive to determine the consequences of environmental change for populations, communities and ecosystems. Much of the work is focused on responses to cultural eutrophication of the Baltic Sea. My favorite model species is the threespine stickleback - a key species of the Baltic Sea ecosystem.

Curriculum vitae

I received my PhD in 1998 from University of Turku, spent one post doc period at University of East Anglia and another at University of Bern. In 2002 I moved to the University of Helsinki, and after a brief period as associate professor at Uppsala University in 2006-2007, took up my present position at University of Helsinki.
