Personal profile

Research interests

I am interested in biodiversity and conservation. During my PhD, I worked on how intrinsic and extrinsic factors of urbanisation affect the diversity of diving beetles (Dytiscidae) in urban wetlands. Currently, I am doing a postdoc on aquatic conservation in urban settings in Aquatic Community Ecology Group. As I am interested biodiversity conservation in general, I have worked on a few projects on beaver (Castor spp.) facilitating biodiversity. My research outcomes are important in terms of giving reliable management recommendations for biodiversity conservation purposes. I have developed my interest in bringing findings of science to conservation practice via cooperation with relevant stakeholders, such as the City of Helsinki and the City of Vantaa.
