Personal profile

Description of research and teaching

My primary research interest concerns empirical Access to Justice research. I am the main creator and developer of the Finnish legal needs survey: Arjen ongelmat, riidat ja ratkaisut (AORR) [the Everyday Problems, Disputes and Solutions survey], a population survey about everyday problems with legal dimension, first launched in August 2021. https://blogs.helsinki.fi/arjen-ongelmat/

I am also interested in empirically investigating Access to Justice questions in specific groups. I am currently involved projects that investigate Access to Justice among older people and among people with dementia.

Previously I have conducted research on prisoners' use of alcohol and other substances and specificities of the social and health care systems and the corrections systems regarding these questions as well as other questions regarding use of alcohol and other substances.

I teach the course OTM-312. Näköaloja Oikeuspolitiikan tutkimukseen, [Views on Legal Policy Research] together with Dr. Karoliina Majamaa.
