Personal profile

Description of research and teaching

I am sociologist with interest in sociolegal research and particularly empirical Access to Justice studies, using different methods. I am the main developer of a Finnish population survey about everyday legal problems. My current interests involve empirically investigating Access to Justice questions in the everyday lives of people and of specific groups of people, currently older people and people with dementia, as well as ATJ in specific (legal and non-legal) settings.

Previously I have conducted research on prisoners' use of alcohol and other substances and specificities of the social and health care systems and the corrections systems regarding these questions as well as other questions regarding use of alcohol and other substances.

I teach the course SOSM-SL339. Oikeuksien toteutumisen ja riidanratkaisun tutkimus [Research on Access to justice and dispute resolution] together with Dr. Jenni Hakkarainen
