Curriculum vitae

Ylva Biri is a salaried full-time PhD candidate in English linguistics at the University of Helsinki Doctoral Programme of Language Studies. She holds a BA and MA in English philology from the University of Helsinki with minors in General Linguistics and Pedagogical Studies for Subject Teachers. Biri’s research interests include corpus linguistics, discourse analysis and sociolinguistics, especially in internet genres. Her PhD research project is a quantitative discourse analytical study how users of social media position themselves as interactants and participants in communities. She is a member of the Research Unit VARIENG.

She has non-academic work experience within teaching and localisation.
