Description (abstract)

The lead partner of the project is the Ruralia Institute of the University of Helsinki. Other partners are Pertunmaa municipality and Mikkeli development company Miksei Oy.

The aims of the project are:

1. Activating small local companies, associations and other actors for cross-industry partnerships and courageous experiments in the tourism industry.

2. Mapping and developing products and services that reflect the region's raw materials, history, traditions, stories and lifestyle, especially related to nature tourism, and designing new services.

3. Improving digital discoverability and communication by ensuring the national and international visibility of tourism services and products through the most effective digital solutions (Visit Mikkeli/Visit Pertunmaa/own site, Outdooractive, DataHub, social media channels).

4. Creation of local operating model for the sustainable place-based development of sparsely populated rural tourism. In the pilot area, a toolkit will be developed, which will allow other municipalities and regions to realise the above-mentioned goals.

Project financed by the Lapland ELY Centre.
