Description (abstract)

The BIOSYN research project examines the technological innovations of the food systems that are expected to change global food production in the future. The multidisciplinary project focuses on the biosynthetic economy, which refers to the production of artificial and synthetic proteins and other organic compounds within the food system. Cultured meat is a product example of this novel food production sector called cellular agriculture. If successful, the biosynthetic economy will fundamentally change the agriculture and food sectors as well as have direct impacts on the society, economy and everyday lives of the consumers. A central part of the project is a collection and analysis of a nationally representative survey data about people’s perceptions of cellular agriculture. The identical survey is realised in Norway and Denmark.

The project is funded by the Foundation for Economic Education.
