Description (abstract)
FinnGen study launched in Finland in the autumn of 2017 is a unique study that combines genome information with digital health care data. FinnGen will boost the activities of Finnish biobanks by speeding up sample collection and enabling enrichment of samples with genomic data. The aim is to get up to 500 000 Finnish individuals to participate in the study. The FinnGen will manage anonymous health registry and genomic data without compromising the privacy and integrity of participants. Project aims to improve human health through genetic research, and ultimately identify new therapeutic targets and diagnostics for treating numerous diseases.
