Finnish as a language of science

    Project: Research project

    Project Details

    Description (abstract)

The overall aim of the project is to investigate intersubjectivity in Finnish scientific texts published in the humanities and social sciences. The focus is on the writer and reader relationship, evaluation, argumentation and the writer's (dis)alignment with sources. The focus is on the soft sciences as these are fields in which research is still being published in Finnish. (There will be some comparison to the few hard science journals published in Finnish.) The data consists of 100 research articles, 100 academic book reviews and 20 university textbooks.
