The research project focuses on representations of the immigrant, refugee and asylum seeker in education, social and health care policy documents and laws and in structuring of welfare services in the capital region. Moreover, the project examines social work professional and course literature, social workers’ views and researchers’ role in contributing to and problematizing the existing images. The interest lays also in the consequences of the existing representations for immigrants’ positioning in the society, for access and navigation in welfare services, for educational and work life opportunities and for the possibilities of the sense of belonging.
