Description (abstract)
My task in this comprehensive project is to create a new, scientific version of Dr. M. Alexander Castrén's "Versuch einer ostjakischen Sprachlehre nebst kurzem Wörterverzeichniss" 1849, St. Petersburg. Afterwards his grammar has been published twice, in 1858 by Anton Schiefner, as a slightly modified version with a new part: Deutsch-Ostjakisches Wörterverzeichniss and as a Russian translation in 1902 in Tobolsk. I shall compare these printed volumes with two handwritten versions of the grammar stored in the National Library, one in Swedish and the other in German.
