Description (abstract)

We hypothesize that in certain specific conditions, neonate piglets’ gut microbiota develop towards a population that promote growth and reduce possibilities for pathogen microbiota to grow.
We hypothesize that we can find differences in gut microbiota population, isolated from the hindgut, in piglets growing faster and with no clinical signs of intestinal diseases.
We hypothesize that such bacterial strains can be isolated, grown in laboratory and subsequently administered orally to neonate and weaned piglets to improve their growth and health.
