Description (abstract)

The aim of the project is to develop responsible cross-border history-based tourism by creating new tourist products and services based on our common history and common heritage attracting and developing SME sector in tourism and other related industries.

The first part of the project will include research work in Finnish and Russian archives and libraries, as well as development of tourism products and services, and the creation of a virtual museum.

One of the main ideas of the project based on Sprengtporten person and his extensive career in the service of both Swedish and Russian rulers. Sprengtporten is a very interesting person about whom the new and interesting information could be found. Such data is good base for the storytelling in tourism services.
The second part of the project is restoration of Brahelinna Military School, among other things Yrjö Maunu Sprengtporten (1740-1819) exhibition room. On the Russian side, it is planned to create three historical workshops as well as a historical exhibition.

The specialty of the Sprengtporten project is that young people in Finland and Russia are participants and users of the service. There will be two camps for them, the first of which will be a science camp and the second an entrepreneurship camp.

The project is financed in the framework of the South-East Finland – Russia CBC 2014-2020 by the European Union, the Russian Federation and the Republic of Finland.
