Social and Economic Sustainability of Future Working life: Policies, Equalities and Intersectionalities in Finland

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description (abstract)

The multidisciplinary Project examines equalities and inequalities in work-life in urban and rural settings of Finland. We study how intersecting social categories, such as age/generation, ethnicity, regionality, gender and other differences construct marginalisations and privileges in the changing and blurring borders of work and non-work. We provide new knowledge and practical suggestions for the development of the basic services and benefit schemes specifically on care responsibilities, flexible arrangements in employment, lengthening of careers, employability and inclusion of diverse people to work-life, gender equality and non-discrimination, and sustainable leadership to support work wellbeing and stay in work-life. We use multiple research methods. Our novel, innovative and participatory approach bases on ongoing dialogue with stakeholders and offers new kind of solutions for political decision-making in austere times for the increase in Finland’s competitiveness.
