Description (abstract)
Old scientific specimens of mammals (and reptiles) in the collections of the Finnish Museum of Natural History in Helsinki were morphologically reviewed. The purpose was to bring their taxonomy up to date, and to assign identities to previously unindentified/misidentified specimens. This project, informally known as "the Bonsdorff Project", took place during May - October 2016. Circa 700 individual museum specimens were investigated. All in all, this Project resulted in the addition of circa 80 "new" taxa to the Museum's collections.
