Biological risk factors such as hypertension, obesity, dyslipidemia, insulin resistance and hyperglycemia are known to be highly intercorrelated and to be risk factors for both cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes. Even more effects on disease have been suggested in the presence of a combination of these factors. The general objective of the study is to evaluate the impact of applying different diagnostic criteria including but not limited to WHO and NCEP/ATPIII for the MetSyn.
