Description (abstract)

Academy of Finland Research Fellow Project:
This proposal addresses the role of secreted peptides and their receptor proteins in plants. Despite the large number or peptides and receptors the majority of interactions and the underlying mechanisms are still unknown. My aim is to analyze the role and control of ligand-receptor interactions in plants using the secreted protein GRIM REAPER and its receptor KHARON as a model. The lessons learned from system will allow novel insights into the biology and biochemistry of peptide ligands and their receptors in plants.
