Description (abstract)

This ERC project is focused on the initiation and evolution of coronal mass ejections (CMEs). We model and analyse two key CME structures and their interactions, the CME flux rope and the turbulent sheath by combining novel data-driven simulations and comprehensive data analysis. The key is to determine at the first time systematically the magnetic structure of the erupting CME.
