Abstract

In this poster, we present a broad framework for sustainability
assessment of livestock products based on FAO’s vision on
sustainable food and agriculture. We also present the criteria and
examples for indicators. However, the set up of indicators is still
underway, and feedback on the approach is very welcome.
The preliminary framework combines aspects related to production
(sustainable food and agricultural system) and consumption
(sustainable diet). The criteria includes sustainability and resilience
of national food system as well as sustainability related to products
and production sectors. The approach offers basis for the country
specific assessment, and it is meant to be applied to the comparative assessments of livestock products originated from different countries.
