The paper is part of a research project mapping and defining hyperlocal media in Finland in 2017. This case study analysis the local media in the Lauttasaari-area, an island with about 23 000 inhabitants close to the center of Helsinki. The traditional local media is a free weekly paper, distributed to most households in the area and through local shops. Facebook-groups have become a channel for local discussion and information in addition to the paper. The case study will examine the background, the goals and the material in the paper and the Facebook-groups. The primary research methods are interview with the editor of the paper and content analysis of the themes in the paper and the Facebook updates.
