Abstract

COLLeGIUM volume Cosmopolitanism and Transnationalism: Visions, Ethics and Practices is edited by Leena Kaunonen.
The chapters focus on the social sciences, ethnographic work in anthropology and on research on transnational practices in literature and social media. The contributions on cosmopolitanism in this volume advocate approaches that are critical of the epistemic hegemony of Eurocentric universalism and they question the all too prevalent celebratory tone reserved for the term. They put forward interpretations that reflect current concerns in the debate on cosmopolitanism, namely, ethical questions, theories of social differentiation, of selfstyling, of governmentality and of multiple mobilities.
