Abstract

Study and catalogue of c 450 inscribed weights from 8th-7th centuries BC Judah; history of research, stamdards, the function as a system, realtion biblical weight systems ("common", royal, and the "shekel of the sanctuary" - the last probably utopian) and evidfence from Hebrew ostraca; distribution, and contexts. The weights form a window into Judean economy.
