Abstract

This chapter introduces an edited collection on General Principles in EU Law and frames the book by reflecting on concept, definition and functions of general principles of EU law. It considers concerns about the arbitrariness of general principles as well as their potential for the interaction of legal orders and future directions in this respect. It uses the theory of interlegality to demonstrate the potential of general principles of EU law.
