Abstract
The paper returns to the important issue in onomastics - the problem of endonyms and exonyms. It is based on historical and linguistic data summarising the hypotheses for possible origins of the ethnonyms used by three Baltic countries, very shortly touching also upon the ethnonymic exonyms of other neighbours.
