Abstract

This book discusses the role of music in Japanese culture and society from the classical period until today. It also contains original interviews of some of the very top persons in modern Japanese music history: Toshi Ichiyanagi (composer), Tadashi Tajima (shakuhachi), Mitsuo Hagita (pop arranger), Tamiya Terashima (film composer), Takako Okamura (singer-songwriter), and Yasunori Nishiki and Rina Yūgi (videogame composers).
