Abstract
The leader of the Taganka Theatre in Moscow, Yuri Lyubimov directed two original productions at the Finnish National Theatre in Helsinki, where his Theatre was already well known and admired for three guest tours. In 1991 Lyubimov directed his dramatization of The Minor based on Dostoeyvsky's novel. In 1992 he offered a new version of "The Comedians", based on A. Ostrovsky's classical plays. His work with the Finnish actors was successful, and the sets by the young German scenographer Andrey von Schlippe corresponded to the theatricality of the director's vision.
