Abstract
Waiting for Corona/ કો કોરોના અચેતો? COVID-19 lockdown experiences in Kachchh district, Gujarat, India is a continuation for urban ethnographic and life historical research Scraps of Hope Bhuj of the long-term recovery after the 2001 earthquake in Kutch district in Gujarat, India, where Academy of Finland Fellow Marjaana Jauhola (Development Studies, University of Helsinki) and Kutchi-based co-researcher Shyam Gadhavi (Prakrit Foundation for Development) focus on the impacts of the cascading disaster risks on the urban poor in one neighbourhood in the city of Bhuj. This video focuses on this this sparsely populated district and the impacts of the two months of COVID-19 lockdown to farmers, migrant workers and urban poor and introduces the citizen’s initiative “you are alive”.
