The Swedish Language Board: Expert memberStatsrådets svenska språknämnd är ett samordnande organ i frågor som gäller de statliga myndigheternas svenska språkbruk. Nämnden ska arbeta för ett klart och begripligt svenskt lag- och förvaltningsspråk i Finland och ta initiativ och vidta åtgärder för att förbättra de statliga myndigheternas språkbruk.

The Swedish Language Board serves as a coordinating body for questions relating to the use of Swedish by government authorities. The role of the Board is to foster clarity and comprehensibility in the legal and administrative Swedish used in Finland.
Coordination of the use of Swedish, especially legal Swedish used by government authorities, is emphasised in the work of the Swedish Language Board. The Board is responsible, for example, for harmonising translation and language revision services especially in questions relating to recommended expressions, acceptable language solutions in relation to the legislation technique plus guidelines concerning writing and style.
The Swedish Language Board publishes handbooks and instructions and organises training as part of its most important line of work. The Board is the publisher of the handbook on Swedish legal language ‘Svenskt lagspråk i Finland’ (ISBN 978-952-5807-5) which was last published in 2010.
