Watershed Ecology and Biogeochemistry (NOVA)

Kuvaus

Integrative approach that focuses on the hydrological, biogeochemical and ecological connections between upland, riparian, and aquatic components of forest landscapes. The course covered the following themes:
• Catchment hydrology and water balance
• Elemental transport and processing along hillslopes and riparian zones
• Controls over material exchange at the land-water interface
• Biogeochemical cycling in streams and rivers
• Biogeochemical significance of wetlands and lakes within catchments
• Interface between forest management, natural science and policy in boreal watersheds
The course included poster presentations, talks by experts and professors, field trips, and group discussions.
