Words “Extruded snacks” probably don’t make you salivate profusely, but you enjoyed that kind of food as well. Cheese puff and similar snacks are just that  – extruded food stuff typically made from refined flour and some flavoring agents. That kind of food is obviously very unhealthy, but scientists from the University of Helsinki say that there is a way to make extruded snacks healthy – it won’t even affect the flavor.

    KuvausIn essence, extruded snacks are just carbohydrate foam and not much else. They are crunchy and usually have a strong flavor, thanks to various flavoring agents. Because extruded snacks are mostly air, some people believe that they are not that bad – in many cases they don’t even contain that much fat. However, that kind of food doesn’t contain any kind of beneficial dietary fibre and it’s really unhealthy. That is until you load it with modified rye bran.
