6. Main research interests

My main research topic is to investigate the drivers of both induced and constitutive production and emission of biogenic volatile organic compounds from trees and forest floor and how these emissions influence the chemical composition of the atmosphere. It is very important to study these aspects, since biogenic volatile organic compounds influence atmospheric aerosol formation and growth in forested areas and thus contribute to climate change. My previous research topics have for example included investigations of the atmospheric reactivity in the boreal forest ecosystem. I have published 19 papers in peer-review international journals. My H factor is 11 and my papers have been cited 400 times in international journals (354 without self-citation).

- Helsinki summer school: Introduction to modern atmospheric science I: A look into air quality in China. 5 credits (2017) in English, Univ. of Helsinki. Duration of my lecture: 120 min. I composed the lecture slides and gave the lecture.

- Biological processes in the biosphere-atmosphere system. 5 credits (2017) in English, Estonian University of Life Sciences. Duration of my lecture: 60 min. I composed the lecture slides and gave the lecture.

- Advanced analysis of atmospheric processes and feedbacks and atmosphere-biosphere interactions. 5 credits (2017) in English, Univ. of Helsinki. Teaching assistant.

- Air chemistry, 5 credits (2014) in English, Univ. of Helsinki. I solemnly developed the curriculum. I created most of the teaching material (lecture slides, exercises, exams). The total duration of all lectures: 1170 min. Duration of the lectures I gave: 900 min.
