OVERVIEW

My main field of research is Greek and Latin Epigraphy, specializing in the Roman and Byzantine periods, editing, translating, commenting and building up comprehensive collections (corpora) of inscriptions. I have worked and published material from Greece (Attica, Corinth, North-Western Greece), now working on projects all over Greece, furthermore on Cyprus and in Former Yugoslavian Republic of Macedonia.

My second field of research is Humanist Greek and Neo-Latin literature of the 16th and 17th century, editing and commenting on texts composed in Greek and Latin by Finnish, Swedish, and Polish humanists and poets. Cooperation with a Finnish colleague (Dr. Tua Korhonen, University of Helsinki) and an Esthonian colleague (Dr. Janika Päll, University of Tartto); my own on-going project regards unpublished manuscripts consisting of two Greek metric orations kept at the University Library of Uppsala, Sweden.

Finished or on-going projects:
1) "The Late Roman and Early Byzantine inscriptions of Athens and Attica", begun in 1986, dissertation (University of Helsinki 1997), finished in 2008 with the final augmented publication in the series Inscriptiones Graecae (Berlin Brandenburg Academy of Sciences).

Frösén during 2006-2007, myself funded during 2008, to be finished in 2011.
3) "Petra – The Mountain of Aaron" (during 2001-2008, directed by Prof. J. Frösén and Dr. Z. Fiema, University of Helsinki/Academy of Finland): responsible, together with J. Frösen and Z. Fiema, for the inscriptions in Greek, published in 2008.

Deligiannakis, Open University of Cyprus) since 2010: responsible for the interpretation and dating of the Greek and Latin inscriptions, to be finished and published in EpiDoc format in internet in late 2011.
