My research interest is in the development of phylogenetic comparative methods for historical biogeography and morphological evolution. Most of the time I am writing computer programs to implement those methods. In biogeography, I attempt to use explicit geographic methods that take into account the spherical shape of Earth, its heterogeneity, and plate tectonics. In morphological evolution, I am working on models that take into account the dependency between characters and character states.
