Tutkimuksen ja opetuksen kuvaus

My research interests encompass spatial population dynamics from demography to how animals move through heterogeneous landscapes, and how human activities and urbanization affect these both. I did my PhD research on the population dynamics and habitat selection of brown bears as part of the Scandinavian Brown Bear Research Project (Sweden) in Metapopulation Research Group (University of Helsinki). During my post doc in Paul Moorcroft Lab at Harvard University (USA) I investigated the interactions of spatial memory, habitat and human development in animal movements using moose as example species.

Currently I am a Senior officer in research affairs at the Faculty of biosciences. My tasks include research administration, such as preparing research policy related strategies and decisions, as well as overseeing the admission for PhD studies and thesis examination process.

Enthusiasm to make science, and scientists, matter has always been my key motivator.
