2014– Doctoral researcher at the University of Helsinki majoring in Latin Language and Roman Literature Title of doctoral dissertation: Occasions and Motives for Sacred Dedications in Antiquity

My doctoral dissertation analyses the reasons for dedicating votive gifts to the gods, and the expression of those reasons in Greek and Roman votive inscriptions. My research is twofold. The first part will analyse the expressions themselves; the vocabulary and syntax of the inscriptions, and pictorial representations. This part will be data-driven and descriptive in nature. The second part will concentrate on a more historical and qualitative approach, analysing the votive practise in the Greco-Roman world in the light of my research material.
