Title of Docent in European Law at the University of Helsinki (2020 - )

Päivi Neuvonen is Assistant Professor in European Law at Durham University. 

From 2017 to 2020, she was Postdoctoral Fellow at the Faculty of Law at the University of Helsinki (Academy of Finland postdoctoral grant ‘European Law and the Politics of (Dis)Empowerment’).

She co-leads the ‘Constructing Legal Orders in Europe: The General Principles of EU Law’ Jean Monnet project (University of Leicester, 2017-2021) and is a collaborator in the ‘Transparency in the EU - From Reaction to Manifesto?’ Academy of Finland project (The Erik Castrén Institute of International Law and Human Rights).

She has previously held postdoctoral positions as Lecturer in Law at the University of Turku; Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Policy Research Centre on Equality Policies and the Institute for Constitutional Law at KU Leuven; and Visiting Scholar at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Harvard University, University of Edinburgh (as an IASH-SSPS Fellow), Oxford University, and University of Leicester.
