Jaakko is a firm supporter of internationally oriented legal scholarship, underlining the importance of studying law comparatively in context, and in a multidisciplinary manner.
His recent research concerns global constitutionalism, legal globalisation, and comparative legal linguistics. The notion of rule of law is in a central place in his scholarship. Moreover, theory and methodology of comparative law remain continuously on Jaakko's research focus. He is a frequent invited speaker at international conferences on - broadly understood - comparative law.
Beyond research he lectures, leads seminars and holds tutorials in law and globalisation and comparative law (broadly understood).
