EuroFIR is a European Network of Excellence project on Food Composition Databank systems (www.eurofir.net). It is a partnership between 46 universities, research institutes and small-to-medium sized enterprises (SMEs) from 25 European countries. EuroFIR aims to develop and integrate a comprehensive, coherent and validated databank providing a single, authoritative source of food composition data in Europe. EuroFIR is funded by the European Commission in the years 2005-2010. The project is coordinated by the Institute of Food Research in the UK.

The Food Chemistry Research Group is involved in the work packages focusing on the formation of a database on bioactive compounds, development of quality framework on food composition data and training and education of postgraduates and young researchers. In the work package “Integrating knowledge, information flow and joint research activities” we lead together with University of Oslo the task focusing on collecting and updating information on research, training and new funding on food composition research.
