Perspectives on evidentiality and epistemic modality in language

The research group consists of people with different theoretical backgrounds who share a common interest towards mood, modality and evidentiality in language. Our backgrounds are in grammaticalization theory, cognitive linguistics and conversation analysis. We focus on linguistic elements expressing epistemic modality and evidential strategies in Finnish, and use as database both spoken and written language.
