The project is aiming to analyse compulsory school students’ scientific literacy and explain the reasons for Finnish students’ success in the PISA scientific literacy assessment. This type of secondary analysis based on the large scale international studies are, in general, useful and valuable for finding trends in students’ competences. The outcomes of the research could be used for curriculum planning and, in general, for education policy purposes.
