The role of bioactive peptides in the synecology of cyanobacteria (University of Helsinki)

Cyanobacteria are an important source of natural products suitable for cell reagents and drug leads. Here we will identify new biologically active antimicrobial peptides by mining cyanobacterial genomes. This study will yield valuable information on the chemical diversity and ecological impact of a newly discovered class of peptides from cyanobacteria and may provide useful drug leads.
