Kuvaus (abstrakti)
Is knowledge social? Is there any social knowledge? What could possibly make knowledge social? What kind of social role does the
concept of knowledge play? The present research proposal aims to answer these questions. There are three different ways in which
knowledge or the concept of knowledge could be social: (1) There could be group knowledge, where the subject of knowledge is a
group of persons. (2) It could be that even individual knowledge, which has an individual person as its subject, has social conditions or
requirements. (3) Even if knowledge itself is social in neither of these ways, the concept may still have a social purpose. The aim is to
study all these dimensions of the sociality of knowledge.
