Influenza virus infections are diagnosed in public health laboratories using molecular assays that are based on nucleic acid amplification, serology, culture, and antigen detection procedures. These assays are intended mainly for typing and subtyping of influenza strains. The goal of our project is to develop deep sequencing-based approach for routine diagnostics of virulent and drug-resistant influenza A strains in clinics. It will provide the most complete information about the virus paving the way towards better prevention and treatment of infections.
