Abstrakti

Currently there is extensive knowledge on many aspects of mold-related disease, but dampness and mold hypersensitivity syndrome (DMHS) is a broader definition than mold-related disease. It comprises seemingly nonrelated sequelae that however are all influenced by an exposure to dampness microbiota. In exposed individuals these diseases occur far more often than purely by chance. DMHS is related to some extent to environmental intolerances, such as multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS) and electromagnetic (EMS). The aim of this review is to highlight the association of DMHS with intolerances to many environmental factors, such as autoimmunity, chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) and cancer. A variety of underlying mechanisms are involved that are not presented here. With this communication we want to challenge the attitudes and share our clinical experience. © 2019 Elsevier B.V.
