Historian televisualisaatiota

Television has become the major medium through which people at large receive their understanding of history. As a medium television is a challenge to popularizing history as it offers great ways of bringing forth the traces of history and audiovisual material which will help to make sense of historical events, yet is at the mercy of the supposed need to dramatize history in order to keep up audience interest. In recent years stagings and clips from historical films and television series's have been increasingly used in an attempt to bring in a human interest element into television history documentaries.Also the role of the presenter has been foregrounded, and his televisual appeal has become an important factor for the success of this genre.Ultimately the question is how can standard of critical writing of history be maintained in audiovisual medie environment.
