Panel "Russian Environmental Communication in the Wartime"In recent years the environmental agenda has been getting more visible in the Russian public discourses. Politicians have been announcing the carbon-free future of the country, NGOs and activists have been attracting attention to national and local environmental problems, media outlets started to allot more space for the coverage of climate-related and ecological news. After the 24th of February 2022 and the start of the full-scale war against Ukraine, environmental agenda has become of second or even third order for politicians and media, while many activists were to flee the country or were pronounced foreign agents. In this session, we aim to discuss the current environmental mediated communication in Russia, its challenges and opportunities under the current wartime.
